gp.exe keeps running after BOINC manager is terminated. EDIT: When BOINC manager is started again, the tasks start all over from the beginning. I also found gp.exe keeps running after the project is paused. |

For me the programme file "gp.exe" is associated with me running the Project "odlk2025". The file does not exist in Linux that I can see. As each instance in Task Manager is associated with that Project and a work unit running on the computer. Once Boinc Manager is launched it launches the Boinc Client as well as it is the Client that does the work in starting and stopping work units as well as monitoring what they are doing. The Manager can be closed after launch and the Client will keep running, the Manager just gives you a visual way to interact with things and does not need to be running all the time. So if you want all of BOINC to close when you close the Manager then you have to close the Client as well, you do this from the manager via "File" then "Shut down connected client" then you can close the Manager and all of BOINC will close. Don't know about the paused problem as I have not seen that yet. As far as I know what I have said is correct, but others can chip in if I am off the mark. Conan |

Maybe I need to clarify some things. I am not running ODLK2025 on Linux, because there is no application for it. (Although I have attached Linux hosts to this project, but I do that for all projects) BOINC Manager is normally sitting in the System Tray. When I mentioned I terminated BOINC Manager, I do that by right clicking on the icon, and than select 'Afsluiten' (Exit (?) in English). This will open a conformation window, where I have selected 'Stop active tasks...', etc. BOINC Manager and all active tasks will go away. In the image I have included, you see a screenshot of host Phobos. The name can by found in the upper left corner of the image. (provided by Sidebar Diagnostics). The image also shows the display window of BoincTasks, which only shows the tasks for host Phobos. You can see that the only tasks that are running on a CPU are PrimeGrid-PPSE. Projects Gerasim@home and ODLK2025 are paused ('gepauseerd' in Dutch). Still, in the display window of Task Manager you see, that 12 instances of gp.exe are still running. (And they will even finish, but no new tasks are started, unless you 'unpause'. The finished tasks will validate.) ![]() |

In reply to Ruud van der Kroef's message of 21 Jan 2025: gp.exe keeps running after BOINC manager is terminated. I can confirm that gp.exe keeps running after ODLK2025 is suspended via Boinc Manager. This is the same problem I have with the project GAIA, it keeps running when suspended as well. I have not shut down the Manager and Client to test if ODLK2025 keeps running. Conan |

I am having the same problem, now a few months later. Can this be fixed? I pause Boinc to play games, but the CPU is still flat out :-/ |
